– Wedding Party in Shinjuku, Jan 28th -

We held a little wedding & new year party with our friends resides in Tokyo area, to report our wedding. We had about 15 people – although 3 could not make it due to the flu!! darn flu virus! – drinking, chatting and laughing for 3 hours, then onto additional 2 hours!

It was so much fun, and we would like to express our gratitude for all who joined in and also for who could not make it but sent us flowers.

We all agreed, that we should get together to drink & smile again soon; so let’s!!

How-so-ever, everything was not too cozy this morning; I ride a bike to the station in the morning & it took me double the time!!

For poor poor Daniel, it was worse!!

He decided to take a bus as many would do (I only take bike for I have to get kids after work, cannot be late due to the bus delay etc) turned out, it was a bad call!!!!

He took like over an hour to get to the station and then to train… altogether it took him 4++hours!

Besides that, all scenary coverd in white is quite awesome!

Snow sculpture at workplace (university)

The opening was a copy band of Testament; another favs of mine! It was quite cool, buttttt the following Megade-cyu was… oh no!!! Maybe I expected too much? or that Metallica copy band was so perfect?

Anyways, the whole thing lasted for 5’30″ hours, quite fun!!! I think, each member of the band has their own original band (except Metallica? dunno) and they do this as a promotion or something. I sure want to go original bands, but it’s quite rare they come to Japan! and it’s so pricy!! so we go there to blast from time to time v(≧∇≦)v

Hattalica Concert

-> We went to see “Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol” on the last weekend, followed by Korean BBQ.

I loved this movie!!

I am not a big fan of Cruise (rather I like Jet Lee, Jason Statham etc, bold macho guy in action movie!), yet this movie was really entertaining! I’d say it’s the best this year, followed by Expendables and Salt.

Walking under all the X’mas illumination, we went to enjoy Korean BBQ.

It was whole alot of meat and spicy feast! I’d still smell like garlic after overnight. We did some X’mas shopping and sending out stuff, so we were pretty much beaten after all those activities. Speaking of, Daniel went to cut his hair at my friend’s hair salon in the neighbourhood. Guess he enjoyed the refreshing experiment v(≧∇≦)v

Since we have a national holiday on Fri, this week is the last working 4 days before we go to Hokkaido, to my parent’s house. Gonna pack!

I actually didn’t know it was cancelled till the exact date, so I met up with sis at the closest station (Shibuya, one of the biggest in Tokkyo) and then my sis told me this “unfortunate” event…. we just had to go for glasses of beer instead! and it was quite a fun nontheless, so okay

The source says the cancellatio is due to some health conditions of family member of the band, or something which noone really believes when they were doing just rollin on other areas. Darn! Personally, I think it’s a luck of communication or persuation of agency here in Japan; they are quite famous for their lousy job!

Anyways, it’s a X’mas time!! It’s all in the air! I just heard from this morning’s news that more people are going for domestic/oversea travel over the new year’s holiday in Japan. That’d do some good for our economy! We, too gonna enjoy snowy white X’mas in onsen in Hokkaido yeah!

Only 4 work days to go till vacation time! Hang on!

So, what did we do here in Kurashige-Gollub land in the last couple of weeks? First of all and most recent, we had a nabe party last weekend on Saturday with two families from our neighbourhood. It was only adults so we were 6 people and we had some good fun. I even learned a new expression ハウスする, which translates to “to house” and means to go home and call it a day. Yep, one of our guests fell asleep during the party and his wife was using that term to ask him if they wanted to go home and go to sleep. The next door neighbours stayed longest, like until 1 or 2am, and we drank and talked a lot. At one point I apparently started serving Sake in big glasses, which is usually served in small sake-cups or small glasses. Yes, I was quite drunk at the end of the night, so the next day was a relaxed “sleep in long” day. Unfortunately (or not ) I totally forgot to take pictures.

We went to a matsuri (festival) in the neighbour town on that Sunday after the nabe party and had some fun there, although we came quite late (around 2:30pm) and everybody was closing and already cleaning up. But the good thing about that was that a lot of the vendors offered their stuff for a discount. So I got some yummies for half the usual price and a bottle of shochu for 3/4 of the usual price. Sweet deal. I also learned how to grill senbei (rice cracker), which was quite a hot experience (will see if I can get some fotos from my wife’s iPhone later).

The week before we all, kids included, went for a little photo shooting in a foto studio. Quite a nice experience, although they had no shoes in my size and the biggest size they had was just a bit too small and therefore a bit painful to wear, but because it was only for 45 mins or so it was not that big of a deal.

My wife and I also went for a little restaurant search around Shinjuku for our little “Welcome 2012 & We are married” party sometime in January (probably 28th) next year. We even found a German Bierzelt-like restaurant, but it is a bit too pricey for our liking, so we went with an English pub instead. I mean, we still plan on doing a “wedding party”-like event in Germany so we don’t really need to do the party at a German place here.

Other than that I was pretty busy with my job search and had several job interviews, of which one finally turned into a success earlier this week. Unfortunately this means that I won’t be able to join my wife and watch with her the kids’ marathon at school on this Friday, because I will be working in the office. That marathon is quite a big deal here for the elementary school kids, so it’s a bit sad that I can’t watch it live.
